Bluetooth Option Configuration

The Zebra Setup Utilities provides a quick and easy way to configure a Bluetooth wireless connection with the printer.
  1. Double-click the
    Zebra Setup Utilities
     icon on your desktop.
  2. Connect a USB cable from your printer to the computer.
  3. On the first ZSU screen, highlight the printer displayed in the window and click the
    Configure Printer Connectivity
     where shown.
  4. Select
    Bluetooth
     on the
    Connectivity Type
     screen and click
    Next
    .
  5. On the
    Bluetooth Settings
     screen, check
    Enabled
     to enable Bluetooth functionality.
  6. In the
    Friendly Name
     text field, set the Bluetooth name of the device. This name appears during device discovery and the central device will label the printer with this name.
  7. Set
    Discoverable
     to On or Off to set whether the device will appear when central devices are looking for new devices to pair with.
  8. Set
    Authentication
     to On.
    This setting does not exist in Link-OS, but you need to turn it on if you want to enter a PIN in ZSU. The actual authentication setting on the printer is set in the
    Security Mode
     on the
    Advanced Settings
     menu.
  9. The values set in the
    Authentication
     PIN field will vary depending on the Bluetooth version of the central device. If the central uses BT v2.0 or older, enter a numeric value in this field. You are prompted to enter this same value on the central device to verify the pairing.
    Security Mode
     2 or 3 in
    Advanced Settings
     should also be selected for PIN paring. In Advanced Settings, select Security Mode 2 or 3 for PIN paring.
    If the central device uses BT v2.1 or newer, this setting has no effect. BT v2.1 and newer uses Secure Simple Pairing (SSP) which does not require the use of a PIN.
    Clicking the
    Advanced Settings
     button will display the
    Advanced Bluetooth Settings
     window. For more information on
    Advanced Settings
    , refer to the Wired and Wireless Print Server Guide.
  10. Click
    Next
     to continue configuring the printer.
  11. The SGD commands to properly configure the printer are displayed. Click
    Next
     to continue to the
    Send Data
     screen.
  12. On the
    Send Data
     screen, click the
    Printer
     icon that you want to send the commands to, or click the
    File
     button to save the commands to a file for reuse later.
  13. To send the commands to the printer, click the
    Finish
     button. The printer will update and then reboot. You may disconnect the USB interface from the printer now.
  14. To complete the Bluetooth pairing process, enable Bluetooth device discovery on your central device and follow the directions provided with the master device.
