The Charge Only Cradle (CRD-ET5X-1SCG2) comes with two inserts; tall insert and short insert. Install the tall insert when using a device without a Rugged Frame or Expansion Back. Install the small insert when using with an Expansion Back and without a Rugged Frame.
The Charge Only Cradle:

Charges the device’s battery and optional Power Pack installed in an Expansion Back.
