Cleaning and Lubricating the Linerless Cutter

If the linerless cutter is not cutting the labels cleanly or if it jams with labels, clean the cutter blade. After cleaning the blade, apply lubrication to the blade to help extend the life of your cutter module.
Do not use oil or solvents (including isopropyl alcohol or the Preventive Maintenance Kit swab) on a linerless platen roller, as this could damage the finish.
  1. Turn off (
    O
) the printer and disconnect the AC power cord.
  2. Raise the media door.

  3. Remove media that is loaded through the cutter module.
  4. During this procedure, rotate the cutter motor thumbscrew as needed to expose the surfaces of the cutter blade.
The cutter blade is sharp. Do not touch or rub the blade with your fingers.

  5. Using the swab from a Preventive Maintenance Kit (part number 47362), wipe along the upper cutting surface and the cutter blade. In place of the Preventive Maintenance Kit , you may use a clean swab dipped in 99.7% isopropyl alcohol. Allow the solvent to evaporate. If particles or adhesive are visible and cannot be removed with the swab, gently try to remove them with a plastic spudger (no metal).
Do not touch the swab to the linerless platen roller because doing so could damage the platen roller finish.

  7. Using the swab, wipe along the upper cutting surface and the cutter blade from the back of the cutter. Allow the solvent to evaporate. If particles are visible and cannot be removed with the swab, gently try to remove them with a plastic spudger (no metal).

Do not touch the swab to the linerless platen roller because doing so could damage the platen roller finish.
  9. Apply an even layer along all exposed surfaces of the cutter blade, front and back. Remove any excess oil so that none of it comes in contact with the printhead or platen roller.

  12. Plug the printer into its power source, and then turn on (
