USB Type C

USB Type C allows for novel and cost-effective installations provided the following constraints are acceptable:
  • Digital GPIO are unavailable.
  • Optocoupled GPIO is still functional, provided the COMMON_IN and COMMON_OUT are properly terminated.
  • The External Light Connector is disabled and cannot be used in GPIO or External Light modes.
  • 0 V to 10 V analog output is disabled.
  • Illumination is limited or requires a USB power source with further capabilities to be enabled at any capacity.
The device boots from legacy USB host ports. However, the current draw is not guaranteed to be under 500 mA, and device functionality may be restricted to the extent that performance can be impaired. An override mode can be enabled for legacy host ports that are known by the operator to be capable of supplying up to 1.5 A. Ports of this type are often described as having USB BC1.2 or USB charging support.
