StrongBox Secure Element

StrongBox Secure Element

Secure element (SE) is a dedicated microprocessor within a device designed to provide a highly secure environment for storing sensitive data and executing cryptographic operations. It offers secure protection against physical tampering and unauthorized access, ensuring that critical information, such as encryption keys, payment data, and biometric data, remains secure.
SE is available on certain TC53e and TC58e configurations (go to Configurations for a list of devices that support SE).
The devices have an extra hardware security chip for secure key storage, accessible to applications through the StrongBox feature in Android's KeyStore. Utilize StrongBox on apps for added protection.
Benefits of StrongBox SE:
  • Enhanced security - Protects sensitive data and operations against attacks.
  • Data protection - Keeps encryption keys and personal info safe and private.
  • Increased Trust - Boosts user confidence in secure transactions and identity checks.
Google APIs support SE operations. For the APIs, refer to Android KeyStore System.
