Print Touch

Print Touch

The simplest way to establish a connection between your NFC-enabled device and a printer is by utilizing the Print Touch feature. Printers equipped with Print Touch can be recognized by this icon on their exterior:

The Near Field Communication (NFC) tag on the Zebra printer enables your smartphone or tablet to communicate with the printer via radio signals. You can choose between two NFC pairing methods to connect your device to the printer:
  1. Print Touch (Tap and Pair) - Pair the devices by tapping the smartphone or tablet against the printer, or by bringing them into close proximity (approximately 4 cm or 1.5 in).
  2. Manual NFC Connection Setup - Establish the connection by opening the application and selecting the NFC button within it.

 acknowledges the start of the Print Touch process, the pairing, any associated errors, and the successful discovery of the printer.
  • NFC must be enabled on your mobile device to use the Print Touch feature. If you do not know where the NFC location on your device is, refer to your device’s documentation. The NFC location is often at one of the device’s corners, but could be elsewhere.
  • Certain Android phones may not be compatible with Print Touch for pairing. Use one of the other connection methods.
  • When you scan an NFC tag, the

     performs a search for connection types in the following order, and connects to the first one that is successful:
    a. Network
    b. Bluetooth Classic
    c. Bluetooth LE
If you encounter issues with printer discovery (for example,

 may not discover your printer), manually enter your printer’s IP address. Having your printer and Android device on the same subnet will give you the greatest chance of successfully discovering the printer.
