Unpacking

Unpacking

The unpacking process includes removing the cardboard top, the sleeve and the transit brackets.
  1. Remove the cardboard top, which may be held in place with strapping fastened with adhesive tape or staples. Take care when removing it so as not to damage the paint of the rack beneath.
  2. Remove the sleeve by splitting the sleeve at the corner join. As with the top, this might be fixed with tape or staples.
  3. The Rack arrives fixed to the pallet with a pair of transit brackets (1).

  4. Each bracket, made from galvanized mild steel (not painted), is fixed to the pallet using ten wood screws (1) and to the rack using four M6 (2) nuts and bolts. Ensure that the rack and pallet are on a smooth level surface and remove all the M6 fixings and wood screws.

  5. Move the transit bracket off to one side. The transit brackets and pallet can be retained for future use, returned to the factory for reuse, or recycled.
  6. After the brackets are removed, maneuver the Rack off the pallet. This task requires two people as the Rack can weigh as much as 86 kg (190 lbs).
  7. Move the Rack to its final working location and ensure it is stable and safe.
    • If the feet are chosen, then these must be adjusted to ensure the Rack is vertical. Use a spirit level to ensure the rack base plate is level in both X and Y planes.
    • If the wheels are chosen, then the brake wheels must be placed into their locked position. To do this, press the brake pedal until it clicks into place. Do this to both brake wheels.
    • If neither wheels nor feet are chosen, then having a flat and level floor is important.
