Enabling Peer-to-Peer Cast on the ZEC500

Enabling Peer-to-Peer Cast on the ZEC500

Enable Peer-to-Peer (P2P) casting on the Zebra ZEC500 to allow supported mobile devices to discover, pair, and cast their screens wirelessly.
  • Ensure the ZEC500 device is powered on and connected to an external display.
  • Ensure DHCP Option 119 (Domain Search) is enabled on the network (enabled by default).
P2P casting is disabled by default on the ZEC500. It must be enabled directly through the device Settings UI or staged remotely by an administrator before end users can connect using Scan to Connect (QR code) or nearby device discovery.
Do not install the Wireless Workstation Connect app on the ZEC500.
  1. On the ZEC500, open
    Settings
    .
  2. Select
    Connected devices
    Connection preferences
    .
  3. Select
    Cast receiver
    .
  4. Turn on the
    Use cast receiver
    toggle.
The ZEC500 generates a connection QR code on the attached monitor and becomes discoverable as a cast receiver for nearby mobile devices running Wireless Workstation Connect.
The ZEC500 is now ready to receive casting sessions in Mirror Mode or Desktop Mode from supported Zebra mobile devices.
For mass deployment across multiple ZEC500 units, administrators can automate this configuration using StageNow with a Profile utilizing the
MX Wi-Fi CSP
to enable Wi-Fi Casting. Go to techdocs.zebra.com/wwc/latest/setup/ for more information on configuring with StageNow.
