Replacing the SIM Card

This section describes how to replace a SIM card (TC58e only).
Follow proper electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions to avoid damaging the SIM card. Proper ESD precautions include, but are not limited to, working on an ESD mat and ensuring the operator is properly grounded.
Do not put any labels, asset tags, engravings, stickers, or other objects in the battery well. Doing so may compromise the intended performance of the device or accessories. Performance levels such as sealing [Ingress Protection (IP)], impact performance (drop and tumble), functionality, or temperature resistance could be affected.
  1. Press and hold the Power button until the menu displays.
  2. Touch

  3. If the hand strap is attached, slide the hand strap clip away from the bottom of the device and then lift.
  4. Press the two battery latches down.

    Do not attempt to insert fingers under the latches when pulling on the battery. Damage to the latches may occur.

  5. While pressing the latches down, press the two latches in toward the center of the device. The latches must be pressed in completely to release the battery.

  6. Lift the battery from the device.

  7. Lift the access door.

  8. Slide the SIM card holder door to the left to unlock it.
  9. Lift the SIM card holder door and remove the old SIM card.
  10. With the contacts facing down, place the new SIM card into the card holder.
  11. Close the SIM card holder door and slide it to the right to lock it.
  12. Reinstall the access door.

    The access door must be replaced and securely seated to ensure proper device sealing.
  13. From the back of the device, insert the battery, bottom first, into the battery compartment.
  14. Press the battery down until it snaps into place.
  15. Replace the hand strap, if required.
  16. Press and hold the Power button to turn on the device.
