Batteries are shipped in sleep mode to preserve their maximum capacity while in storage prior to initial use. The battery needs initial charging to wake it up before using for the first time. See AC-to-USB Charger.

Depress the release tab on the battery pack and begin to rotate the battery out of the battery compartment.

Lift the battery pack up and out of the battery well.
