Issue: Print Image Moves or is Distorted

Condition

Print image distortion or print positioning issues.

Cause: Media Needs to be Reloaded

has not been loaded incorrectly, the movable media sensor is not set properly, or the media needs to be calibrated.

Remedy: Inspect Area and Reload the Media

  1. Leave printer power ON and remove the media.
  2. Visually inspect the media path, roll holders, and media guides for paper dust and adhesive buildup. Visually inspect the platen (drive) roller for damage or paper dust and adhesive.

  3. Verify that the sensor is set and positioned correctly for your media type and sensing location.  Check to see the Movable Sensors window is clean.

Remedy: Clean the Interior of the Printer

  1. Clean the printer's media path, platen roller, and media sensors.
  2. Clean the printer's sensors.
  3. Clean the platen (drive) roller
  4. Clean the printhead last.

  5. Reload the printer media and run a SmartCal media calibration.

Platen Roller is Damaged or Worn Out

Over time the platen roller can wear out or become damaged. As the platen roller gets older, it smoother and grips the media less and becomes less soft and wears out.

Replace the Platen Roller
