Beaconing and Battery Use

Use the following table to estimate how long a scanner will scan before entering into power-saving mode.
Beaconing and scanning both use battery power. The following table shows how well the battery performs when the battery threshold (parameter 2407) is set to the default value of 37% at various temperatures. These results were calculated assuming:
  • use of an extended battery
  • beginning the shift with a fully charged battery
  • scanning with a 100% success rate

A battery beacons for a minimum of 48 hours before it is fully drained. The beaconing battery life is calculated assuming:
  • beaconing occurs within the operating temperature of the scanner
  • use of an extended battery
  • beaconing begins with a battery level of 37%
