Third-party devices are already supported for PTT Pro clients. However, managing third-party device IDs becomes complicated for customers using the PTT Pro shared device model.
PTT Pro customers deploying a shared device model must provision device IDs in the PTT Pro server device table of the appropriate site (called department in PTT Pro). Third-Party Devices complicate provisioning the device IDs because:
The device ID is unknown until the PTT Pro application is loaded and opened on the device. Only then the device ID can be read out and provisioned into the PTT Pro server device table.
The device ID changes after a factory reset, meaning the new device ID must be re-provisioned into the PTT Pro device table. In addition, the old device ID is now invalid and no longer tied to an active device.
To manage third-party device IDs more simpler, Automatic PTT Pro Device ID Provisioning (automated provisioning of the device ID in the PTT Pro devices table) for new customers has been added to the system. It can be used for Zebra devices as well as third-party devices.
