Battery True Hot Swap

Battery True Hot Swap

Battery True Hot Swap applies to Premium Devices only.
Replacing the main battery using the True Hot Swap feature allows the device to maintain Wi-Fi/WAN connectivity and memory persistence while replacing the depleted battery with a fully charged battery. When the battery is removed, the backup super capacitor immediately takes over to maintain the system, including Wi-Fi/WAN connectivity (only voice, data and current state of applications) for a maximum of 30 seconds. During this time, the user is still able to interact with the device, however, some mitigations, such as dimming the display backlight, disabling the scanner, disabling NFC, and lowering the volume are made to conserve power consumption.
After this period, the device enters emergency (critical) suspend and maintains the memory (device resumes instead of rebooting) for a maximum of 60 seconds. If the battery is not replaced within 60 seconds, the memory persistence may run out, and the device will reboot after installing the charged battery.
