Configuring the Device to Use a Static IP Address

By default, the device is configured to use Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to assign an Internet protocol (IP) address when connecting to a wireless network.
  1. Go to
    Settings
    .
  2. Touch
    Network & internet
    Internet
    .
  3. Slide the Wi-Fi switch to the
    On
    position.
  4. In the network dialog box, select and touch a network.
  5. If you are configuring the connected network, touch Pencil icon to edit the network details. to edit the network details and then touch the down arrow to hide the keyboard.
  6. Touch
    Advanced options
    .
  7. Touch
    IP settings
    and select
    Static
    .
  8. In the
    IP address
    text box, enter an IP address for the device.
  9. If required:
    • In the
      Gateway
      text box, enter a gateway address for the device.
    • In the
      Network prefix length
      text box, enter the prefix length.
    • In the
      DNS 1
      text box, enter a Domain Name System (DNS) address.
    • In the
      DNS 2
      text box, enter a DNS address.
  10. If you are configuring the connected network, touch
    Save
    otherwise, touch
    Connect
    .
