Test Printing with an Ethernet Printer Connected to a Network

Test print on an Ethernet printer connected to a wired or wireless network (LAN or WLAN) with a command prompt (or search for and click
Run
from the Windows Start menu):
  1. Create a text file with the following characters:
    ~WC
  2. Save the file as
    TEST.ZPL
, or use any other arbitrary file name and extension.
  3. On the printer’s Configuration Report’s Network Status printout, identify the IP address of the printer.
  4. In a web browser window address bar, on a system that is connected to the same LAN or WAN as the printer, type
    ftp
followed by the printer's IP address.
For example, if the printer's IP address is
    123.45.67.01
    , type
    ftp 123.45.67.01
    .
The printer should print a new print configuration report.
If the report does not print, see Troubleshooting.
