Connecting an RS-232 Scanner

Connecting an RS-232 Scanner

Before using an RS-232 scanner with the device, connect the scanner to the device.
  1. Open the access door.
  2. Route the RS-232 cable up through the bottom of the Vehicle Dock.
  3. Connect the scanner cable RS-232 connector to the RS-232 port and to the scanner.
  4. Tighten the RS-232 connect thumb screws.
  5. Secure cable with cable ties.
  6. Close the access door.
  7. Remove two screws securing the RS-232 access door on the back of the Vehicle Dock.
  8. Move the jumper to the bottom two pins.
  9. Replace the RS-232 access door.
    When not using the RS-232 connector, move the jumper to the top two pins to prevent corrosion on the pins when not in use.
