Zebra Aurora Focus can connect the device via Ethernet or USB-C-to-A(or C; host-side) cable to the Host PC. When connected, navigate to the
View Devices
screen to view all connected devices and their properties, such as
Name, Model Name, Part Number, IP Address, Serial Number, Firmware Version
and
Status
.
There are three options to connect a device to be discoverable in Zebra Aurora Focus:
Connect the device directly to a PC using a USB cable. Using this method does not have access to an internet source by default. In this case, bridge your internet connection using an adaptor. See Bridging an Internet Connection for additional information.
Use an M12-ETH cable to connect the device (M12) directly to the Ethernet port on the PC. This option does not provide access to outside internet by default. In this case, bridge your internet connection using an adaptor. See Bridging an Internet Connection for additional information.
Use an M12-ETH cable to connect the device (M12) to a switch or router (ETH) on the same subnet as the PC. In this setup, the device typically receives an IP address from the router provided by an Internet Service Provider and can reach outside internet to reach a license server. This is the recommended setup when performing license upgrades and typically does not require bridging a connection.
If access is restricted due to firewall:
Contact the IT department to allow network traffic.
Create a proxy server to allow traffic to the license server.
Move the PC to a home network and attempt to connect again with a less restrictive firewall configuration.
