Performing a Factory Reset Using ADB

Perform a Factory Reset using ADB.
  1. Connect the device to a host computer using a USB cable.
  2. Go to
    Settings
    .
  3. On Android 11, touch
    System
    Advanced
    Developer options
    .
  4. On Android 13, touch
    System
    Developer options
    .
  5. Slide the
    USB debugging
    switch to the
    ON
    position.
  6. Touch
    OK
    .
  7. If the device and host computer are connected for the first time, the
    Allow USB debugging?
    dialog box with the
    Always allow from this computer
    check box displays. Select the check box, if required.
  8. Touch
    OK
    or
    ALLOW
    .
  9. On the host computer, navigate to the
    platform-tools
    folder and open a command prompt window.
  10. Type
    adb devices
    .
    The following displays:
    List of devices attached XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX device
    Where XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX is the device number.
    If the device number does not appear, ensure that the ADB drivers are installed properly.
  11. Type:
    adb reboot recovery
  12. Press
    Enter
    .
    The System Recovery screen appears on the device.
  13. On the host computer command prompt window type
    adb sideload <file>
    .
    where: <file> = the path and filename of the zip file.
  14. Press
    Enter
    .
    The Factory Reset package installs, and then the System Recovery screen appears on the device.
  15. Navigate to
    Reboot system now
    and press the Enter key or Power button to reboot the device.
  16. Disconnect the USB cable from the device.
