Changing Ports Between the Remote Host and the Leader Device

Navigate to the

Setup

screen using the left menu on the

Home

screen.

Select a

Follower

device from drop-down menu or select a device from the

Discovered Devices

drop-down menu.

If you are in triggered mode and intend to update the port that the GS20 Leader Module is monitoring for an incoming trigger string, enter the desired port into the

Trigger Input

field (0 to 65535) and click

Update

.

To set up the GS20 TCP port to act as a

Server

, select this option from the

Mode

drop-down menu and click the icon above the menu to edit the server settings.

To configure a trigger delay, enter a time interval in the

Trigger Delay

field.

Select the port to send results to from the

Results Port

dropdown menu.

Click

Update

to enable the changes and update the field values. Select

Server

to use the GS20 TCP port as a server.

When the Leader to Host port acts as a Server, a timeout occurs after 5 seconds of inactivity. In some cases, you may need to set up a heartbeat to keep the connection alive by sending a string (for example, HB) from the host machine to the GS20 device IP address and the specified server port with a frequency higher than every 5 seconds.

After the form fields are populated, click

Update

Inactivity Timeout is the time the device waits for the following TCP message before the connection is lost. This setting is only applicable when the leader device operates in Server mode. The default setting of one day is helpful for stable network connections. However, lower timeout options should be used along with a heartbeat from the host to recognize dropped connections quicker on unstable networks. If your network is unstable, set up a heartbeat to maintain the connection by sending a string (for example, HB) from the host machine to the leader’s device IP address and specify the server port with a frequency higher than the inactivity timeout.
