Installing a SIM Card

This section describes the steps to install a SIM card in your ET401. The slot is located within the battery well and is found after removing the battery.

If you use two active SIM cards (such as one physical SIM and one eSIM), enabling the RFID reader limits your cellular connections. The device automatically deactivates whichever SIM card is not set as your primary data connection, causing that SIM to temporarily lose all service. Once you close or disconnect your RFID application, the device automatically restores service to the disconnected SIM card.

Only use a nano SIM card.

Do not attempt to remove the battery while the device is powered on.

Press and hold the Power button until the menu appears. Touch

Power off.

Hold the device down with one hand and lift the corner of the battery cover up from the notched area.

Do not use any tools for battery cover or battery removal. Puncturing the battery or seal may cause a hazardous condition and a potential risk of injury.

Place your thumb under the cover and slide your thumb along the short edge of the cover toward the other side.

Carefully lift the edges of the cover, releasing the clips.

Remove the cover from the back housing.

Using your fingernail, slide and hold the battery lock switch in the unlock position (1). While the switch is in the unlock position, lift the battery from the notched area (2), rotate the battery up, and then remove it from the battery well.

After removing the battery from the device, release the battery lock switch.

Pull the card holder out of the device.

Flip the card holder.

Insert the nano SIM card (1) at the bottom of the tray with the contacts facing up.

Press the card down into the cardholder and ensure that it seats properly.

Replace the battery, contacts side first.

Gently push the battery towards the contacts while rotating it down into the battery well, ensuring it is seated properly.

Ensure the battery cover is correctly oriented before replacement to prevent damage.

Insert the tabbed end of the battery cover into the slots in the battery well.

Rotate the cover down.

Carefully press down around the edges of the cover to ensure that it is seated properly.
