Configuring Select to Speak

Select to Speak allows you to hear selected text read and certain selections, like icons, described aloud.

    Text to speech settings
    to access the text-to-speech output menu.
    1. Touch
      Preferred engine
      to change the preferred text-to-speech engine.
      The default preferred engine is Speech Recognition and Synthesis from Google.
    2. Touch
      Language
      to change the language of text-to-speech.
      The default language is the system language.
    3. Use the
      Speech rate
      slider to change the rate of speech speed.
    4. Use the
      Pitch
      slider to change the pitch of the speech
  6. To change the reading voice, touch
    Change reading voice
    .
    The option to change reading voices is only available if you have your language set to English.
  7. To have the text-to-speech run in the background, touch
    Read in background
    .
  8. To have the text-to-speech read text on images, touch

    .
  9. To request help or provide feedback, touch

  10. To change developer settings, touch

    Developer settings are intended for debug mode only.
    1. To capture screen content's layout information to system logs, touch
      Enable taking snapshot

    2. To capture more detailed screen content, touch
      Allow snapshot to take detail information
