Free-Form OCR Configurations

This section describes the configurations available within Free-Form OCR.
  • Input Source
    - Specifies the input source for data capture:
    Imager
    or
    Camera
    .
  • Session Timeout
    - Specifies the timeout period in milliseconds. The value can range from 0 – 60000, in increments of 500. The default is 15000.
  • Script
    - Specifies the script language of the text being read. Supported languages include Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Devanagari, and various Latin-based languages.

  • Illumination
    - Enables or disables illumination during the scanning session.
  • Output Image
    - Specifies the output mode for the captured image:
    • Disable
      - No image is output.
    • Full
      - Outputs the entire image.
    • Cropped
      (default) - Outputs an image cropped to the Region of Interest (ROI). The user adjusts and sets the ROI in the preview screen during data capture.
  • Zoom
    - Specifies the camera zoom level, from 1 to 8. The default value is 1.
  • Report OCR Data Rules
    - Allows for the creation of Regular Expression (Regex) rules to validate OCR data. Note that Regex is applied at the block level.
  • Feedback Parameters
    :
    • Decode Audio Feedback
      - Selects an audio tone from the list to play upon a successful decode.
    • Decode Haptic Feedback
      - Enables or disables device vibration upon a successful decode.
    • Decode LED Notification
      - When enabled, the green LED flashes to indicate a successful decode.
    • Beep Volume Channel
      - Selects the volume channel to use for the decode audio feedback:
      • Ringer
        - Uses the Ringer volume setting.
      • Music and Media
        - Uses the Music and Media volume setting.
      • Alarms
        - Uses the Alarms volume setting.
      • Notification
        - Uses the Notification volume setting (default).
  • Region of Interest (ROI) Size
    - Configures the default size of the ROI bounding box:
    • Width - % of Screen
      - Sets the width of the ROI bounding box as a percentage of the screen. The default is 40.
    • Height - % of Screen
      - Sets the height of the ROI bounding box as a percentage of the screen. The default is 10.
  • Auto-Remember Resize
    - When enabled, the ROI retains its manually resized dimensions across sessions. By default, this is disabled, and the ROI reverts to its default size at the start of each session.
